Today's prompt: Last

GO
How appropriate - I think Lisa Jo picked this one just for me! (Obviously, since she knows who I am...but isn't it funny how things seem to work out like that sometimes?)

I've been "celebrating" lasts for a few weeks now. Last day of work at the job I loved. Last visit to my parent's house for quite awhile. Last trips here and there...favorite restaurants, stores, friends' homes... (Was that apostrophe in the right spot? I don't want to waste my five minutes trying to figure it out!)

Tomorrow is my last Friday in my current apartment. Followed by my last Saturday, my last Sunday, and then my last Monday morning. Then we roll out and start the next step in our lives.

I know that new, crazy, and wonderful things are waiting for us, and I'm so excited to experience them. However, there's the flip side...I don't make friends super easily, so big moves are always a little scary. It takes me awhile to make friends, and it's been awhile since I had to try. However, I know that when I do, I put everything into it. I want to make friendships that will last.

STOP

My last Five Minute Friday from my little one bedroom home! Next week I'll be writing from the massive four bedroom open country parsonage that we are blessed enough to call home for a whole year!

Five Minute Friday

  1. I'll say a prayer for you, friend...it's hard to start over, to say goodbye, and to move forward not knowing exactly how it's all going to look. Just remember that He's good...always. :)

My husband and I were backpacking in South Africa almost a decade ago, and we met a couple who were spending a year traveling the world. We had dinner with them one night, and they shared a quote with us...one that we've hung on to in five different houses, two states, and two countries. Maybe it will mean something to you tonight, too.

"Attitude: the difference between ordeal and adventure."

Wishing you some of the best adventures ever in this next season! (And please share how it's going, too!) Blessings. :)

  4. Oh, I know the pain of goodbyes. They are so difficult! But I love that you ended with friendships that last because those are the best. :) (And yes, your apostrophe is correct!) Visiting from FMF.

  5. Praying for you, friend. I know how hard it is, but God will lead you to the friends meant for you and your heart! Enjoy the lasts and tuck those memories in deep, for they are treasures :) Happy Friday!

  6. Awe! New things can be so scary and exciting at the same time. If you can conquer a new favorite restaurant, a place to get your hair beautified, and a fun place for the kiddo's then you will have it made. I usually wold add finding a church but it sounds like you have that covered:)

  8. Hopping over from five minute friday- this really was a great prompt for you!

Moves are hard, but they can also be wonderful. We lived someplace for only a year, and it was unexpectedly great. I decided to plunge into friendships, and made one of the best friends of my life. And it gave us lots of time together as a family, since we didn't have to worry about making our circle wide.

I hope the goodbyes are sweet and meaningful, and your new place is beyond what you are hoping for.
